  • April 2017: Our paper "Improving Performance for Flash-based Storage Systems through GC-aware Cache Management" has been accepted by IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS).

  • April 2017: Our paper "Content-aware Trace Collection and I/O Deduplication for Smartphones" has been accepted by the 33rd International Conference on Massive Storage Systems and Technology (MSST’17) .

  • January 2017: Two papers "Elastic Data Compression with Improved Performance and Space Efficiency for Flash-based Storage Systems" and "Parallelism and Garbage Collection aware I/O Scheduler with Improved SSD Performance" have been accepted by the 31st IEEE International Parallel & Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS'17) .

  • September 2016: Our paper "Exploiting the Data Redundancy Locality to Improve the Performance of Deduplication-based Storage Systems" has been accepted by the 22nd IEEE International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems (ICPADS'16) .

  • June 12-16, 2016: Dr. Mao is invited to attend the 1st China Systems Education Workshop in Microsoft Research Asia and gives a talk on "GCaR: Garbage Collection aware Cache Management with Improved Performance for Flash-based SSDs".

  • May 14th, 2016: Dr. Mao is invited to attend the Storage System Forum in University of Science and Technology of China and gives a talk on "GC-aware Flash-based Storage System Optimization".

  • March 2016: Our paper "GCaR: Garbage Collection aware Cache Management with Improved Performance for Flash-based SSDs" has been accepted by the 30th International Conference on Supercomputing (ICS'16) (acceptance rate: 43/183=23.5%).

  • December 2014: Our paper "Improving Storage Availability in Cloud-of-Clouds with Hybrid Redundant Data Distribution" has been accepted by the 29th IEEE International Parallel & Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS'15) (acceptance rate: 21.8%).

  • December 2014: The Huawei Innovation Research Program, collaberated with HUST, has completed and is evaluated as an Excellent project!

  • October 2014: Our paper "Proactive Data Migration for Improved Storage Availability in Large-Scale Data Centers" has been accepted by IEEE Transactions on Computers (TC).

  • September 2014: Our group received a new grant awarded by the State Key Laboratory of High-end Server & Storage Technology (PI: Dr. Suzhen Wu). This project aims to design and implement a variable-size chunking based data deduplication system.

  • August 2014: Our group received a new grant awarded by NSFC (PI: Dr. Suzhen Wu). This project aims to address the data layout and buffer management strategies for SSD-based disk arrays.

  • August 2014: Our group received a new grant awarded by NSFC (PI: Dr. Bo Mao). This project aims to address the data deduplication in cloud storage systems.

  • July 2014: Our group received a new grant awarded by Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities (PI: Dr. Bo Mao). This project aims to address the data availability technology of the cloud storage systems.

  • June 2014: Our paper "Exploiting Content Locality to Improve the Performance and Reliability of Phase Change Memory" has been accepted by the 14th International Conference on Algorithms and Architectures for Parallel Processing (ICA3PP'14) (acceptance rate: 24.6%).

  • June 2014: Yanping and Weijian have successfully defended their Bachelor's thesis. They will be graduate students in ASTL in September 2014. Congratulations!

  • March 2014: Our group received a new grant awarded by Huawei Innovation Research Program. The new grant aims to address the availability challenges in Big Data storage systems (PI: Dr. Bo Mao).

  • January 2014: Our group received a new grant awarded by the Scientific Research Foundation for the Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars, State Education Ministry (PI: Dr. Bo Mao).

  • December 2013: Our paper "POD: Performance Oriented I/O Deduplication for Primary Storage Systems in the Cloud" has been accepted by the 28th IEEE International Parallel & Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS'14) (acceptance rate: 21.1%).

  • October 2013: We have established a collaborative research project with Intel on large-scale storage systems. Under the project, Intel loans us six high-performance servers and five storage nodes. Now our experimental platform consists of 450GB DRAM, 2.5TB SSDs and 30TB HDDs (see pics).
